Last year, we traded our pet rock Oscar for a new car for a Brisbane charity called Youngcare. That project was a lot of fun. But more importantly, it resulted in an amazing gift from Brett Curtis of Brisbane who bought a $41,000 car for Youngcare. Today, this Kia Carnivale is helping young Queenslanders with high-care needs get out and about with their families. You can read all about that project by clicking on the Diary link below. And remember - Brett Curtis is a legend!
Our Next ProjectMum and dad have always supported us and were amazed by our Pet Rock project. So when dad started harassing us to do another project, we said "Why don't you do something?'' So he is. Our dad, Warwick, is working with homeless people on the Gold Coast to help them show the world how talented they are.
His idea is to give them an opportunity to show their talents through art, sculpture, or even photography. It's a real down-to-earth project with around 12 homeless people meeting twice a week to work on their 'masterpieces'. And the best part is that their meeting place is right where they live - on the streets. The big plan is to create a range of art pieces, and then bring them all together for a massive art auction. Just wait until you see where dad has planned for the auction! The money raised will go to the artists, and to a fantastic charity called Rosies. For 21 years, Rosies has been buzzing about in their food buses, feeding the homeless on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and lots of other places. You can learn more about Rosies by clicking the link below. Luke and I will photograph the artists and their work, to have a pictorial record of the project. We will regularly upload photos on to our site as we all work our way towards a mega art auction in 2008. This will be a chance for these amazing people to show the world how talented they are. And for everyone to buy these artworks and help a great charity. So keep in touch with how dad's going on our site - and keep a look out for homeless people working on their art out there on the streets of the Gold Coast. Bye - Hannah and Luke
